2013
Jesmond and Ponteland Waitrose branches kindly supported the Charlie Crowe appeal through their Community Matters Scheme.
Backworth Social Club; have decided to support the Charlie Crowe Scanner Appeal as their chosen charity of 2013. Two events have been organized to date which are; A social evening on Saturday 29th June, with the second event being held Saturday 30th November. Further details to be published soon.
2012
Our thanks to the following:
- Starbucks Jesmond who once again supported our annual coffee morning at the new Pavilion Cafe at Newcastle University's Campus for Ageing and Vitality. Thank you to everyone who contributed prizes towards the raffle. The event was a huge success Click hereto read the Evening Chronicle report.
- Newcastle East Fire Station, Byker who raised funds towards the Appeal during their Annual Charity Day held on 7th July 2012.
- Events included a raffle, cake stall and sale of handcrafted cards made by 12 year old Rebecca Hailstone who is pictured opposite with firefighters Stephen Taylor and Geoff Hagan, together with Viv Sewell, who is in charge of fundraising for the Charlie Crowe Appeal.
- Sir Bobby Charlton/Manchester United for kindly donating a signed autobiography and signed Manchester United Football Shirt. These raised over £300 towards the Appeal.
- Newcastle United Football Club - following a competition six tickets were won by the Appeal for the Newcastle v Wolverhampton Wanderers match on 25th February. These raised £310. Thanks to the people who purchased these from far afield for their local "Geordie" relatives. Thanks to Mike Bolam "Biffa" (NUFC.com) for advertising these on our behalf and for his continued support.
- Waitrose, Eldon Square, Ponteland and Jesmond Branches for their continued support by donating raffle prizes and cash donation through their Community Matters.
- Sale of Charlie's Books - a general thank you to all the local shopkeepers and clubs who have stocked and sold Charlie's books on our behalf. This has contributed greatly towards the Appeal.
2011
Our thanks to the following:
- Starbucks Jesmond - Once again thanks to Starbucks, Jesmond Branch for supporting our Christmas Coffee Morning. This proved another successful event. See pictures opposite.
- Ray Tully for producing his book "Reflections", the proceeds of which are in aid of the Appeal.
- Fraser Kennedy who cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats at the end of July and raised funds for the Charlie Crowe Appeal.
- Mick Martin who organised and took part in the annual "Heroes Golf Day" along with a group of former footballers, and donated half the proceeds raised to the Charlie Crowe Scanner Appeal.
Whitley Bay Football Club who held an evening with Alan Pardew, NUFC Manager. A signed Newcastle United F.C. shirt was auctioned and the proceeds donated to the Appeal.
Grateful thanks to The Lord Mayor of Newcastle Cllr. Brenda Hindmarsh for choosing the Charlie Crowe Appeal as one of her three charities during her year in office. Pictured opposite is Cllr. Brenda Hindmarsh, at the end of her office, presenting a cheque towards the Appeal to Professor Roy Taylor and Vivien Sewell.
2010
